Truck Driver

Job Title: Truck Driver
Position Type: Part-Time (Monday, Thursday, Friday); Seasonal
Wage: Dependent on Experience and Performance
Reports to: Project Manager; Snow Removal Route Manager
Purpose: Our Truck Drivers are responsible for the safe and efficient operations of a combination of vehicles with trucks with more than two axles (not including a semi-trailer truck). Drivers will effectively haul and deliver company tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites and any other locations as required. This will include hauling snow in the winter months.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
·        Load, haul, and deliver any tools, equipment, and materials to job sites as required
·        Wrap and tarp products/materials for delivery
·        Properly strap and secure all loaded cargo
·        Ability to dump loads and clean out the box of the truck
·        Complete all required daily paperwork, including but not limited to: DOT Truck Logs, Pre & Post Trip Inspection Forms, HIT Lists, Working Alone Forms, etc.
·        Always maintain open lines of communication with Manager and Office Staff
·        Daily vehicle inspections and walkarounds
·        Ensure trucks are correctly weighted to avoid going over the weight limits
·        Maintain and fuel trucks daily
·        Other duties as required
 
Other Responsibilities:
·        Hooking Up/Unhooking, Backing Up, and maintaining Truck Trailers (Pintle Hitch, Super B, and End Dump Trucks)
·        Perform essential truck maintenance, i.e., Fluid top-ups, truck greasing, etc.
·        Operate Hook Lift System (Hydraulic and Air Systems)
 
Qualification Requirements:
·        Valid Manitoba Class 3(A) is required
·        Valid Manitoba Class 1A a considerable asset
·        Able to operate Standard 18-Speed Trucks
·        Clean Drivers Abstract; No At-Fault Claims in the past three years
·        Strong understanding of legislated requirements for hauling and heavy trucks
Education and/or Experience:
·        Minimum five years of driving experience
·        Knowledge of safety skills and requirements for Safe Work
·        Physically fit to perform all duties required
·        Shows great attention to detail and performs quality work
·        Can work with multiple different personality types and displays great customer service
·        Takes direction well and follows through on all job tasks

Physical Conditions:
The duties of the Truck Driver are carried out primarily in an outdoor setting.
·        Uses hands, arms, and shoulders when using various types of equipment (daily).

  • Lifts and/or move up to 80 lbs. (occasionally).
  • Ability to cross on uneven ground (daily)
  • Ability to work outside for long periods of time
Psychological/Stress Conditions:
The Truck Driver position’s workload and environment do not generally increase employee emotional or stress levels.
  • Interruptions and requests from multiple areas (daily).
  • Multitasking (daily).
  • Repetitive movements
  • Job demands versus time constraints (daily).
  • Periods of intense concentration when meeting deadlines and during peak periods.
 
Work Conditions:
The Truck Driver works independently and in a team environment.

Compensation

$20.00 - $27.00 per hour
